Transfer from Da Nang airport to Hoi An
To get from Danang airport to Hoi An, there are several options. You can take the local bus, which is the slowest and most economical option.
There is also the more expensive but much faster option of taking a taxi. Prices vary from one to two.
There are also shuttle buses that cost less if you are traveling alone
If you are using a private driver, do not hesitate to stop at the Marble Mountains, Cham Museum and Lady Bouddha if you have not already done so.
When booking your hotel, pay attention to the advertised rate. Some people have contacted me to say that some establishments were asking for 400,000 VND, even 500,000 VND, much more than the usual rates.
Distance from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An
The distance between Da Nang city center ( or Da Nang Airport ) and Hoi An ancient city is about 30 km and takes about 45 minutes by car.
If you travel by local bus or shuttle bus, the travel time is about 75min.
The bus station in Hoi An is located on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street a few meters from the city center. You can easily reach your hotel on foot if it is located in the city center.

Different means of transportation
1. BUS
Taking the local bus is the preferred option for backpackers as it is the most affordable. It costs about 20,000 VND – 30,000 VND.
However, the bus does not leave directly from the airport. You will have to get out and walk a few meters. If you have big luggage, avoid this option.
This bus line starts from 5.30am and ends at 6pm with a frequency of one bus every 20 minutes. The travel time can be up to 70-80 minutes.
Tickets are purchased directly on the bus and local buses do not have air conditioning.

2. SHUTTLE BUS
The shuttles can accommodate 16 people. They take you to Da Nang airport with other travelers. It is a cheaper way if you travel alone. From 2 people, a private car will cost you less.
The shuttle buses start at 7am and travel time is about 75 min.
There are several companies but my favourite is Hoi An Express. The price is 140,000 VND per person.
The frequency of the shuttles is every hour. This is a disadvantage because you can wait at the airport for 30 min – 40 min.
3. TAXI
Prices range from 350.000 vnd to 500.000 vnd.
There are many problems with the taxis and I do not recommend. The price is per km and some taxis make detours, just to increase the price. Always check the meter and and use Google Maps to follow the route.
2 taxi brands have a good reputation in Vietnam: Vinasun (white cars) and Mai Linh (green cars).
I do not recommend taxis.
4. PRIVATE CAR
It’s cheaper than taking a taxi.
By private car, you can choose your itinerary and make a stop at the Marble Mountains, Cham Museum and Lady Buddha.
