How to get from Saigon to Hoi An

In this article, we will see how to get to Hoi An from Saigon. The fastest and most expensive way is by plane. Train and bus are more cheaper but much longer.
Distance between Hô-Chi-Minh-Ville and Hoi An
The distance between Saigon and Hoi An is about Ho Chi Minh is about 823 km (526 miles) to 937 km (594 miles) depending on the route you take. Surprisingly, the shortest way is not the fastest.
The 3 best ways to get from Saigon to Hoi An
1. Airplane
Airplane is the fastest way to reach Hoi An, even though there is no airport in Hoi An. The nearest airport to Hoi An is Danang International Airport.
The flight from Saigon to Hoi An takes only 1h20. For this trip, the ticket costs about $40 per person. The price may vary depending on the period.
From Da Nang airport to Hoi An it takes about 45 minutes by car.
2. Train
There is no train station in Hoi An. The nearest train station to Hoi An is Da Nang. Again.
The journey takes from 16h to 19h between Saigon and Da Nang. You can choose between soft seat, Sleeper 6-Berth, Sleeper 4-Berth. For such a long trip, I recommend hard ( 6-Berth ) or soft sleeper ( 4-Berth ).
I don’t recommend taking the SE8 train, which travels during the day, because you will lose a day of travel.

3. Bus
It is one of the most popular means of transportation to travel from Saigon to Hoi An.
Since 2022, buses arrive in Da Nang and not in Hoi An as before.
Currently, there are very few bus companies that make the trip and I recommend Futa Bus. The price starts at $22 and it takes 23 hours to make the trip. Most of the buses on this route are sleeper buses.

Travel from Da Nang to Hoi An
As you can see, none of them arrive in Hoi An whether by bus, plane or train.
For the trip from Da Nang to Hoi An, you can take the local bus ( number 1 ), a shuttle or a private car.
