How to get from Danang to Hué

The coastal cities of central Vietnam, such as Hue and Da Nang, are must-see destinations for all travelers. As these cities are very close to each other and many options for this trip are available.

Distance from Da Nang to Hué
The distance between Da Nang and Hue is 95km. By private car, this trip takes 2 hours and 2h30 if you go through the Hai Van Pass.
Best ways to Travel from Danang to Hué
1. Train
The train is the preferred means of transportation for people to travel from Da Nang to Hue. The train runs around the hai van pass, so you will see beautiful scenery from the train.
There are 1 luxury sleeper car for this route: Violette trains. For such a short trip, I don’t recommend the luxury sleeper car.
This is one of the longest trips in my list, it takes 2h30 – 3h.

2. Bus
Traveling by bus from Da Nang to Hue is one of the most popular and cheapest ways. There are 3 different types of buses: public bus, tourist bus and limousine bus.
– Public bus: Since the beginning of 2020, Da Nang Department of Transport has launched the new intercity bus line connecting Danang to Hue and vice versa. The operating time is from 05:00 to 19:00 with a frequency of every 14 minutes in high season and every 15 minutes in low season. The cost of a one-way ticket for passengers traveling the whole route is VND70,000.
– Open tourist bus ( Sinh tourist or Hanh Café ) : The open bus trip will take about 2-3 hours and they leave from their offices in Da Nang to their offices in Hue city.
– Limousine bus: This is usually a compact bus, with a capacity ranging from 9 to 16 people, which allows you to have a more comfortable ride than a local coach or bus. In addition, it includes advanced facilities such as Wi-Fi, charging ports and water in the bus. Cost for a limousine bus starts from 200,000 VND.
3. Private Cars
Traveling by private car from Danang to Hue is probably the best solution. It takes 2 hours to make this trip.
The advantage of private car is that it gives you the opportunity to stop and admire the beauty of some attractions on the way, such as Hai Van Pass, Lap An Lagoon, Lang Co Beach, Marble Mountains, Linh ung pagoda and more.
The price is 1.400.000 VND for the trip from Da Nang to Hue in a 4-seater private car with driver, 1.500.000 VND for a 7-seater car with driver and 1.800.000 VND for a 16-seater car with driver.
4. Moto
Driving from Danang to Hue by motorcycle is the most exciting experience, especially for travelers who want to spice up their trip and experience the scenic road and spectacular landscape of Hai Van Pass.
The time it takes to drive a motorcycle from Danang to Hue is about 3 to 4 hours. The duration can be longer or shorter as it is affected by many factors such as traffic conditions, time spent at each stop.
It is easy to find a motorcycle rental store in downtown Da Nang, but don’t forget to check with them if you can go to Hai Van Pass and Hué. The cost of renting a motorcycle is about 150,000 VND to 250,000 VND. This fee does not include gasoline, but it is relatively cheap.
