Private car from Hué to Hoi An

To go from Hué to Hoi An, the private car is one of the best choices to make this trip.

With a private car, you can stop wherever you want to take pictures and visit different monuments on the road such as Hai Van Pass, Lang Co Bay, An Bang Ghost Village, Linh Ung Pagoda and Marble Mountains and more.

You can leave at any time and the driver will pick you up at your hotel in Hué and drop you off at your hotel in Hoi An.

A private car is more expensive than the train or the bus but the advantage is to be able to visit the places on the road.

Distance between Hué and Hoi An

Hoi An Old Town

The distance between Hué and Hoi An is about 121 km and it will take you about 3h to 3h30 ( if you go to Hai Van Pass ) from Hoi An to Hue (or vice versa).

It’s not a long trip especially since there are several stops to make. It takes 2 hours more for the Marble Mountains, 1 hour for Lady Buddha, 1 hour for the ghost village of An Bang.

I do not recommend Elephant Springs. There is nothing interesting to see and it is a waste of time. On Trip Advisor, out of 94 reviews, it has a rating of 2.5 out of 5.

The best monuments to see for the trip between Hué and Hoi An

1. An Bang Ghost Village

An Bang village in Hué is one of the most unusual destinations you will see in Vietnam.

The village has huge colorful tombs. They are really impressive and it is a must stop on the way from Hué to Hoi An.

It is the Vietnamese expatriates, who by sending money back to their families, have built these huge tombs.

2. Lang Co Bay

Before the Hai Van Pass, you can make a stop at Lang Co.

Lang Co bay is one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam but it is mostly known for its seafood.

3. Hai Van Pass

The Hai Van Pass ( 21km ) is one of the most popular passes in Vietnam thanks to the TV show Top Gear. The pass is a natural barrier between the heat of the south and the cold of the north.

At the top, you can see the gate of Hai Van Quan which was used during the wars against the French and the Americans.

On the way to the Hai Van Pass, you can make stops to see the beautiful landscape.

4. Linh Ung Pagoda ( Lady Bouddha )

Linh Ung Pagoda is the largest pagoda in Da Nang.

It is especially known for its 67 meters high Buddha statue, Lady Buddha that you can see from the beach.

From the pagoda, the view of Da Nang is magnificent.

5. Marble Mountains

The Marble Mounts are the number one monument of Da Nang city.

They are 5 mountains where different pagodas and caves are located. The most famous one is Thuy Son Mountain.

The most impressive cave is that of Huyen Khong with inside, the immense statue of Buddha. It also served as a hospital for the Vietnamese during the war.

I also recommend you to visit the Am Phu cave which is the craziest cave in Vietnam.
