Airport Transfer in Vietnam | My complete guide
There are a lot of transportation available at airports in Vietnam and you may be confused sometimes when you first travel to the country.
To avoid being scammed, booking the wrong transportation or having unwanted problems, you should read my following guide to booking transportation from an airport in Vietnam.
Hanoi Airport Transfer
Hanoi airport (officially Noi Bai international airport) is only 30km away from Hanoi old town.
Among the 4 largest international airports in Vietnam, it is the one that is the farthest from the city center, which makes the trip between Hanoi airport and Hanoi’s old quarter more expensive.
Like most other international airports in Vietnam, there are only 2 terminals at Noi Bai Airport: the domestic (terminal 1/T1) and the international (terminal 2/T2). As these terminals are not so big and located next to each other.
In general, you would have three main ways to get from Hanoi airport to the old town: public bus, shuttle bus and taxi or private car.
Depending on your budget, you can take into account the information below to choose the best one. However, it is advisable to take a taxi or book a private car as it is the most convenient choice.

Ho Chi Minh Airport Transfer
Ho Chi Minh airport (also called Tan Son Nhat international airport) is only 8 km from the city center. Since this international airport is really small and extremely crowded, if you want to get out and get to your hotel as soon as possible, taxis and private cars are the best options.
You can save your money by using the public bus with 2 bus stops inside the airport: 1 at the international terminal and 1 at the domestic terminal. Normally, the buses would take you to the city center in about 15 minutes.
The only problem is that traffic jams usually occur around the airport, which would make your trip with the public bus so exhausting, and you might need much more than 15 minutes to get downtown.

Da Nang Airport Transfer
The airport is the best located in the 4 biggest airports in Vietnam and it is only 3 km from the city center, 23 km from Ba Na Hills and 30 km from the ancient city of Hoi An.
If you stay in downtown Da Nang, public buses, taxis or even walking are all options. The most convenient means of transportation is definitely a taxi or private car. However, if you don’t have so much luggage, you can consider using public bus to save money; or, for exercise, walking seems pretty good.

Hué Airport Transfer
Hué airport (officially called Phu Bai airport) is only 15 km from the city center. You can choose to go to Hué city center from the airport by taxi, shuttle or public bus. With a group of 3 or more people and carrying a lot of luggage, although the taxi is quite expensive, it seems to be the most possible option.
The public bus is absolutely the cheapest choice. The bus stop is right next to the airport, so you can get there easily. However, the biggest problem with public transportation from Hue airport to the city center is the waiting time which is about 30-60 minutes for each bus ride. If you still want to save money, you can rely on the shuttle bus which costs about 50,000 VND/person. Although you still have to wait for the shuttle in 30-60 minutes, at least you can have a more comfortable experience than using public transportation.
